I visit the Cumbria Archives and Library on a weekly basis have access to an enormous array of information including;

I will undertake to do searches and research for you at the Archives for a fee of £6 per hour*. I always work to a pre- arranged maximum and I am honest with the time it takes to do the searches.

If you want an individual item found, or a general search on your line of interest, please e-mail me with as much information as you can and I shall endeavour to help you. Any results, positive or negative, will be e-mailed to you as soon as I have them.

I can report the details of any Records as a transcript but due to problems with copyright any images or hard copies of any Bishops Transcripts and Parish Registers or Records have to be signed for in a disclaimer from the Cumbria Archive Service that ... " (Item 2b) - I will not use the copy except for research or private study and will not supply a copy of it to another person". This prohibits me from signing the Copyright declaration as I would not be able to pass the copy on to you.

Thus the alternative is to either
(a) Have the Cumbria Archives do the Research for you. They currently charge £20 per hour and details of their service is available at ... www.cumbria.gov.uk/archives but you still have to download the application form and the Copyright declaration form

b) Download the declaration (a .PDF download) at ....www.cumbria.gov.uk/eLibrary/view.asp?ID=1064
print it off, sign it and send to me. I can then obtain the copies on your behalf

 I hope this does not sound too complicated, but the Archive Service have a duty to protect copyright and this process has been introduced in order to comply with this duty. Please e-mail me if you require any other information on this matter.

Payment is simple - all you need to do is pop the fees in CASH (in your local currency) and post them to us, but only when the research has has been done by me on your behalf.
Payment by PayPal is also accepted
